Oh, the humanity!

Yes, I was in my garden today--I have a plot in the Dunsmuir Community Garden in Crescent Beach. I've got a 32'x32' plot where I grow a lot of stuff every year. Five years ago I planted a Himrod vine, and the following year a Concord (what, you expect Pinot Noir in zone 9?) Unfortunately the birds got to my Himrods first. Sigh.
The Concord were still there, but they're not nearly ripe--the acid is probably above 15 g/l, without much sugar to take the edge off, so the birds left them alone. It doesn't look like we'll get enough heat or sunshine from here on in to finish them off.

Verjus, anyone?
Oh well, at least the rest of the world had a better harvest.
